NJ Devils Pee Wee B Black Win The Congressional Cup

Ashburn, VA (YHR)- The New Jersey Devils defeated the Old Bridge JR Knights in dramatic fashion to take the Pee Wee B Championship at the Congressional Cup. The Devils and JR Knights came into the Championship Game undefeated. The Devils scored in the first period as Kyle Midlige gave New Jersey a 1-0 lead. In the second period Spencer Bridges scored off a feed from Charlie Cleaves but Old Bridge battled back. Ryan Kirschner scored a goal assisted by Eric Yarmolinsky and that was followed by a goal by Robert Piccolo assisted by Tyler Kogut which tied the game at two heading into the third period. Eric Yarmolinsky scored for Old Bridge to give them a 3-2 lead and that’s the way it stayed into the final minute. With less than a minute left the Devils pulled their goalie for an extra skater and with just 21 seconds left Jeff Haley scored a goal assisted by Steven Shields. In Overtime Kyle Midlige took a hard shot and Trevor Stack crashed the net and poked in the rebound to give the Devils the Championship. Great game by both teams to finish and exciting tournament.
